Ok so i have had this concept design for awhile now and i have a **** ton of wood ready for this project, but i want to simplify the design a bit so the project isn't so crazy involved.. I am just now making the bench from the old youtube videos and blog series. so while this is not quite timely for me i will say that this introduction video when you showed off details of the bench answered a lot of questions i had about some specifics of the older design bench.. I have read debates on this topic and primarily it sounds like if you are using hand tools 3" or greater is preferred. i am in the process of building my bench out of recycled ash used as a farm. Plans available on the web at no cost. there aren't a lot of plans available on the internet for good workbenches..
